product name Osthole

Description: Osthol is an O-methylated coumarin which is found in the plants such as Cnidium monnieri, Angelica archangelica and Angelica pubescens. Osthol inhibites platelet aggregation and ATP release induced by ADP, arachidonic acid, PAF, collagen, ionophore A23187 and thrombin in washed rabbit platelets.

In vitro activity: Osthol is an O-methylated coumarin which is found in the plants such as Cnidium monnieri, Angelica archangelica and Angelica pubescens. Osthol inhibites platelet aggregation and ATP release induced by ADP, arachidonic acid, PAF, collagen, ionophore A23187 and thrombin in washed rabbit platelets. Osthole mediates cell differentiation through bone morphogenetic protein-2/p38 and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 pathway in human osteoblast cells and may be a promising agent for treating osteoporosis. Osthole also suppresses the secretion of hepatitis B virus in cell culture by increasing the glycosylation of HBsAg.
