Description: Ofloxacin is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic of the fluorinated quinolone class, it is useful for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections. Ofloxacin functions by inhibiting DNA gyrase, a Topo II (topoisomerase II) and Topo IV (Topo II alpha). When taken by mouth or injection into a vein this includes pneumonia, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, prostatitis, plague and certain types of infectious diarrhea.
