Description: Formononetin is a phytoestrogen isolated from the root of Astragalus membranaceus and is an O-methylated isoflavone. Formononetin displays potent antioxidant properties and acts as a selective inhibitor of ADH γ (the γ-isoform of alcohol dehydrogenase). Formononetin has been shown to interact with human estrogen receptors with low potency. Formononetin also induces mammary gland proliferation in mice.
